7113 Old English Road Lockport, NY 14094 716-433-9267 TECHNICAL ADVISOR The following articles were sent to me by club members wishing to share their experiences in hopes that maybe others can benefit from them: Brian Lewis is a proud owner of a '69 Cougar convertible who was experiencing trouble with the turn signals. After having the sequential box rebuilt and installing a new switch (both rather costly), he discovered a #536 NAPA flasher had been installed which caused his turn signals to operate correctly for a short time. Brian found a company in Ohio, dealing in NOS parts, who had the original flashers f or about $15.00. The name of the company is Green Sales Company at 1-800-543-4959. It is listed under part number C9WY-13350-A and is called a sequential trigger. The next article was from John Budnaitis. John is in the process of restoring his '68 Cougar GTE with the 427 engine. As per my last conversation with John, it has taken him over two years and he tells me he is still not finished. After John purchased the car, he found the 427 to be very tired. After removal, disassembly and complete inspection of the engine, John found that he needed .030 oversize pistons, which were not offered through Ford Motor Company. After many tries and orders went unfilled and through weeks of waiting, John has finally found a set of pistons for his 427. He has also undertaken many modifications to insure that this Cat has at least eight more lives. Some of these modifications were: a complete deburring of the block and heads, reworking the connecting rods and improving the oiling system. John has spent countless hours to insure that this 427 will be better than new when he is finished and should last a good many years. As you can imagine, there would not be enough room to explain everything John has done so he has agreed that if you need any more detailed information on restoring the '68 GTE 427, you can contact him at West 6755 Townhall Road, Eau Claire, WI 54701 or phone him at (715) 875-4256. After reading the article John sent me, I come to the conclusion that just when you think you are having a hard time restoring your Cat, there is always someone having just as much trouble, if not more. My hat is off to John and I wish him all the luck. |
